“The Xunta will study collaborating with the project ‘A vila do moraan’, an educational initiative promoted from the field of architecture and aimed at Galician children and adolescents.
This is what the Ministry of Environment, Territory and Housing has moved, after the meeting held this Tuesday between Minister Ángeles Vázquez and the architect and promoter of this project, Sandra González Álvarez.
This informative initiative has already been put into practice in some 15 municipalities in Galicia and its objective is to make the youngest, through play, aware of scales in common spaces: architecture, heritage, urbanism and the landscape
‘Tomorrow’s village’ is developed through workshops taught by students from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, adapted to the children’s ages, and in which the street becomes an operational space. In this way, young people are given the necessary tools to develop their creativity in art and architecture.
Councilor Ángeles Vázquez has celebrated these initiatives, which focus on urban planning and the landscape, and on people’s relationship with their environment from a very early age. Thus, the new generations, he highlighted, can participate in the construction processes of neighborhoods, cities and squares, and in the improvement of abandoned or deteriorated environments due to the impact of ‘urbanism’.
In addition to studying the collaboration with this project, the Consellería has recalled that, since 2000, it has collaborated with the Official College of Architects in the so-called ‘Project Tierra’, a program of educational activities that is developed in educational centers in Galicia to educate and generate critical spirit in relation to architecture and landscape.”
