“A Vila do Mañá”, a transformative project in Malpica

NH Diario   28/07/2019                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Malpica‘s mayor, Walter Pardo, and the creator and director of the project A vila do mañá, the architect Sandra González, presented the children’s workshops that will take place from Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2 with the objective of involving children and teenagers in the transformation of urban space in order to achieve an increasingly livable town.

Among those present, the mayor, Walter Pardo, and the culture technician, Antón Noceda. A vila do mañá is an is an educational project whose goal is to promote, through game and childhood, people’s awareness of tangible and intangible heritage, architecture, urban planning and landscape. In this way, the challenge to overcome is that childhood and adolescence are actively present in the processes of construction of the common space.

From July 29 to August 2, Malpica’s children will be able to participate in work and playful interventions to transform different spaces in the municipality. Kids from 3 to 15 years old will be able to enjoy the activity.

Tomorrow there will be two round tables in which the different professionals will participate and which will be moderated by Fernando Agrasar, director of the Higher Technical School of Architecture of A Coruña and in which the future challenges of urban planning in Galicia will be analysed. In addition, the program of activities includes seeking proposals to convert a corner near Campo de Arriba into a public space, where an illegally constructed building was demolished.
