Despite the fact that the rain made it necessary to end the outdoor activity ahead of schedule, the students attending the “A Cidade do Mañá” urban planning and heritage workshop were able to go out into the street, specifically to the Porta do Sol, to immerse yourself in the content of this initiative.

It is a story that led to the brick crisis: recently finished her Architecture degree, Sandra González chose to focus on her thesis in view of the current situation, and in her work on urban plans she concluded that these regulations “were the same for the coast and the interior, and they did not generate a city, they thought about cars”, so he decided to investigate the opinion of the youth. The A vila do mañá project was born, which these days ends up in Ames.

Thus, and taking advantage of the summer camps, the team made up of Sandra González, as creator of the initiative, and the coordinators Miguel Comesaña and David Balseiro, are working with almost 80 kids in the largest of the cities (before, in Bertamiráns, they already involved another 170 young people), with the support of councilors Blas García and David Santomil. And the first conclusions are already arriving in an amazing way.

The course The town of tomorrow, organized by the Association for the defense of the Galician cultural heritage, will allow nearly 200 children and teenagers from Verin to contribute their vision on the future urban design of the town in the medium and long term. This cycle, lasting five days, will begin on the 10th and will extend into morning and evening hours.

The “heritage and urban planning workshops for children and youth” aim to make new generations aware of the importance of respecting the urban, historical and heritage wealth of a locality.

The City Council of Ames presented yesterday a new didactic workshop on urbanism and heritage that will allow schoolchildren and young people from 12 to 21 years old to know in detail the spaces in which they live and participate in the design of a future strategy to improve their environment. .

The project, which involves the departments of Culture, Urban Planning and Mocidade, was launched in Rianxo and is being held in different municipalities in Galicia and other autonomous communities. The Councilor for Town Planning, Blas García, pointed out in the presentation of the activity that “Ames is a two councils that best adapts to this project, because it is the most newly populated municipality in all of Galicia.” He stressed that “the really interesting thing about this project is to know what the children of Bertamiráns and not Milladoiro would change and what they would keep.” This perception of the participants about the urbanism of the environment in which they live will be collected in a work at the end of the activity.

The aim is that this Christmas these little architects become aware of their municipality and bring them closer to urban planning in a way playful.”

With the municipal auditorium as the center of operations, games and activities are carried out -they paint buildings, places, do puzzles with pieces of the town, build with blocks,…- in order to get to know the spaces that are similar to reality, in order for them to learn to feel them as their own, to live and understand them, to begin to appreciate and care for them.”
