The “Roteiro por Coia” project seeks to make the neighborhood better known through a game started by teachers more than a decade ago

Fourth-year ESO students from the Alexandre Bóveda Institute painted a board of the goose in the schoolyard, in which each box contains a reference to prominent places or people in Coia, and today they will do it in a selected space in the neighborhood .

The Coia neighborhood has an interesting unknown history, even by many residents of the area. So to remedy this, the teachers of the Alexandre Bóveda Institute decided, several years ago, to carry out a project with the aim of reconstructing the neighborhood’s past and making it available to its inhabitants. To do this, he involved his students and, through different annual projects -in addition to the section focused specifically on data collection- he tries to do it in an entertaining and didactic way.

Knowledge of the habitat, participatory construction in the architecture of the town, or Galician literature, will be some of the thematic axes of the PØST Arquitectos proposal to create an educational and informative initiative so that from the dynamics of children’s play they become aware of all the scales of the common.

A group of architects and the Alexandre Bóveda high school community want to show that the neighborhood is much more than the Alcampo and the boat traffic circle.

One hundred and twenty young people from the Alexandre Bóveda high school in Coia were invited to draw on paper what they understand to be the greatest artistic, architectural and social heritage of their neighborhood, what they believe identifies it unambiguously. And ninety of those students between 14 and 17 years old agreed on the same image: the traffic circle with the Alfageme boat and the Alcampo hypermarket. From the front, from above, in the foreground, in pencil, in color… but always with the boat stranded in the middle of the traffic and the establishment that inaugurated a new way of buying and selling in Galicia as a reference.

The educational and informative program “A Vila do Mañá” came to the town to awaken a new look in children and young people about the spaces in which they live their lives.

During the Easter vacations a group of children from Arzúa had the opportunity to learn to love the heritage that surrounds them in a playful way through A vila do mañá. The informative and educational program directed by the architect Sandra González Álvarez, honorary member of the Association for the Defense of Galician Cultural Heritage (Apatrigal), aims to awaken a new look in children and young people about the spaces in which they live their lives. Through different activities, with the streets and squares of Arzúa as a game board, they were able to discover many of the treasures that this crossroads houses.

The Department of Culture of the City Council of Arzúa, directed by Aurora Varela, will launch a new edition of the A Vila do Mañá program over the coming Holy Week.

This initiative, which will take place on April 3, 4, 5 and 6, seeks to facilitate family reconciliation during school holidays and, at the same time, help the youngest to deepen their knowledge of their town.

To achieve this objective, different outdoor activities are proposed to the participants within the urban area itself, in order for them to identify and signpost the most outstanding places in it, thus contributing to its enhancement both for the residents themselves and for the public. hundreds of visitors who come to the town through the Camino.

These workshops organized by architect Sandra González Álvarez, as part of the A Vila do Maña program, and supported by Apatrigal, are beautiful, fun and very educational. They have passed through Malpica or Carballo, and Vimianzo is one of the mandatory stops.

This week, the girl from Vimiance is the protagonist of this tactical urbanism action program to encourage active participation from childhood, based on the ideas of Francesco Tonucci.

The Council has prepared this conciliation format for the girls to carry out tremendously formative Christmas workshops, which open the minds of our children.

At Vimianzo they want to involve boys and girls in building the space they want. Thus, the reconciliation proposals fall under the heading “A vila do mañá”, a tactical urban planning action program to encourage protagonist participation from childhood, based on the ideas of Francesco Tonucci. With the support of the Association for the Defense of Galician Cultural Heritage (Apatrigal) and promoted by the City Council, the sessions are directed by the architect Sandra González Álvarez, honorary associate of the entity.
