It was not until a little after eleven in the morning that the children took over this space by taping it, a task in which they all participated divided into four teams. Immediately afterwards, and before the adverse weather made an appearance and they had to return to the O Grupo school, where they continued with the workshop, they were playing policemen and robbers in the delimited place, being able to use a space that they usually have to their heart’s content. banned.

Invading the O Sol square. This is how the day began yesterday for the children participating in the A Cidade do Mañá urban planning workshop. The rain caused a change of plans, so instead of taking over the O Sol square, they had to occupy the CEIP O Grupo pavilion track. Until Friday, the little ones will be made in situ with the Ribeirense streets.

While time allowed, they were delimiting the space of the small square, with the help of some tapes. “They placed them to their liking, they had the feeling that the place was theirs,” explains Sandra González, creator of the project. And that is one of the objectives of the course: that the youngest recover their space on the street

It is a story that led to the brick crisis: recently finished her Architecture degree, Sandra González chose to focus on her thesis in view of the current situation, and in her work on urban plans she concluded that these regulations “were the same for the coast and the interior, and they did not generate a city, they thought about cars”, so he decided to investigate the opinion of the youth. The A vila do mañá project was born, which these days ends up in Ames.

Thus, and taking advantage of the summer camps, the team made up of Sandra González, as creator of the initiative, and the coordinators Miguel Comesaña and David Balseiro, are working with almost 80 kids in the largest of the cities (before, in Bertamiráns, they already involved another 170 young people), with the support of councilors Blas García and David Santomil. And the first conclusions are already arriving in an amazing way.
